On the back of the canvas is the imprint of a No. 12 fireman’s boot. The painting was hanging near the source of the fire, fell off the wall and got stepped on. I did not repaint it because the smoke damage reminds me of burning brands snatched out of the fire.
Now on exhibit at the Sacred Art Center at the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Ark.
